Shin Hyun-joon ( coreano : 신현준 ; nato il 28 ottobre 1968) è un attore sudcoreano.
È meglio conosciuto per i suoi ruoli in Barefoot Ki-bong, Stairway to Heaven e nei sequel di Marrying the Mafia, e come fotografo nel popolare video musicale "Because I'm A Girl" dei KISS.
Nella stampa coreana è soprannominato 아랍왕자 ("Principe degli arabi") per via del suo aspetto straniero e delle lunghe ciglia.

Carriera



Shin Hyun-joon si è laureato in atletica leggera alla Yonsei University prima di iniziare una carriera come modello e attore nel 1989.
Il suo debutto cinematografico è avvenuto nella serie Son of a General del regista Im Kwon-taek, ambientata sotto l'occupazione giapponese negli anni '20.
Per la prima metà degli anni '90 ha continuato a lavorare con Im Kwon-taek e ha anche recitato in Hwa-Om-Kyung, il pluripremiato film di Jang Sun-woo basato sull'Avatamsaka Sutra.[1]

Negli ultimi anni Shin si è rivolto maggiormente al cinema popolare, trovando il suo più grande successo in opere fantasy/fantascientifiche come The Gingko Bed, The Soul Guardians e la coproduzione coreano-cinese Bichunmoo



Così come le commedie di gangster Marrying the Mafia II e Guns & Talks.[1][2]
In uno dei suoi ruoli più iconici, Shin ha interpretato un maratoneta di 40 anni con le facoltà mentali di un bambino di 8 anni in Barefoot Ki-bong.[3]



Un devoto cristiano, nel 2008 ha pubblicato un libro di saggi fotografici Shin Hyun-joon's Confessions, che documentava le sue intuizioni personali sulla vita e sulla fede.
La prima stampa è andata esaurita in due giorni e il libro è uscito anche in Cina e Giappone.
Le confessioni contenevano una prefazione della star internazionale Jackie Chan e testimonianze religiose di altre celebrità coreane come Choi Ji-woo, Kim Won-hee e Nam Hee-seok.[4][5]

È anche noto per il suo lavoro missionario, le attività di beneficenza e il volontariato.[6][7]

A parte il suo lavoro di attore, Shin attualmente ospita il programma di notizie di intrattenimento Entertainment Weekly su KBS2, il segmento KBS Nine O'Clock News KBS Entertainment 925 su KBS1 e il talk show di Channel A Show King.

Ha scritto due libri per bambini: Aladdin and the Magic Lamp (2012) e Clown with Smiles and Tears (2013).[8]

È anche professore di recitazione all'Università di Induk dal marzo 2010.[9]

Shin ha fondato la società di produzione HJ Film ed è il CEO di 3J Cosmetics.

Vita privata

Shin ha sposato Kim Kyung-mi (Linda Kim), una donna coreana americana di 12 anni più giovane di lui, al Grand Hyatt Seoul il 26 maggio 2013.[10][11]
Sua moglie ha studiato per un dottorato in musica negli Stati Uniti e Shin ha detto nel suo programma Entertainment Weekly di essersi imbattuto in lei sulla soglia di un edificio e di essersi innamorato di lei a prima vista.
La coppia ha tre figli.
